Google's mobile app received a major update in February, adding a convenient chat feature to the fast call control. In the coming weeks, the default dialer for Pixel,Nexus and Android One devices is adding spam filtering, along with a new beta program, which can now be tried out.
In 2016, the app began reminding users of potential spam callers by flashing the incoming call screen bright red and using another "suspected spam caller" alert below the phone number. Now, the new spam filtering features in the test are further enhanced and no longer disturb users. When a potential spam call is detected, it is sent directly to voicemail. As a result, the phone will not ring and the user will not be disturbed.
At the same time, users will not receive missed calls or voicemail notifications, but filtered calls will appear in the call log, and any left voicemails will still be displayed in the appropriate tabs. This feature will be launched worldwide in the next few weeks, but users who join the new version will be the first to use it. Like other programs, Google points out that users are allowed to use this experimental feature before release.
Google warned that features are still under development, may be unstable, and that there are "some problems". At the same time, users will need to be able to submit intra-application feedback throughout the process. Users who want to participate in the test can go to the Google Play list of the phone app and scroll down to "become a tester" to join.
